REIKI (pronounced Ray Kee) is a Japanese word that is often translated as ‘Universal Life-Force Energy’. However the more accurate version is ‘Spiritual Energy’. This beautiful energy system can be sent distantly to anyone or anywhere in the world. Each persons experience of Reiki is as unique as they are and changes over time. Rei translates as ‘sacred’, ‘soul’ or ‘spirit’, the’ wisdom and knowledge of all the Universe’ Ki is the life-force energy which flows through every living thing- plants, animals & people-it is also present in some form in everything around us, such as rocks & inanimate objects. The healing system of Reiki came to the West from Japan in the 1930’s, where it had been re-discovered by Mikao Usui. This is a very gentle treatment that can be given either seated or lying down. The treatment is given over the clothes, with little or no contact to the client. This relaxing treatment has very few contra-indications. So is therefore ideal for people with lots of medical conditions that may prevent them from trying other therapies. The benefits of this gentle system vary from person to person and does need to be experienced individually. Reiki is energy, and everything in the Universe is made up of energy. Some forms we are aware of such as x rays, sound, light or radio waves. We humans are also comprised of electromagnetic energy & every cell, atom and subatomic particle is vibrating at a different level. It is this energy that Reiki works with. Reiki acts as a holistic energy affecting all the energies that comprise the human body. Einstein and other later quantum physicists have explained that at a quantum level, between 10,000 and 100, 00 times smaller than an atom every single thing that exists in the universe is energy, which is vibrating and oscillating at different rates. This means that all physical matter and energy are two forms of the same thing. This also means that the whole universe is really a dynamic web made up of these energies. I have found over the years that a 90 minute session works best for both myself and my clients. However you can book a shorter taster treatment if you so wish. You also need to allow another 30 minutes for your consultation and after-care advice with each session. KARUNA REIKI This form of Reiki works alongside traditional Reiki on a much deeper level yet is very gentle.
